Jacky Partington ACA
After graduating with a maths degree from Exeter University, Jacky joined Thornton Baker (now Grant Thornton) where she qualified as a chartered accountant three years later. She then moved to a two partner accountants’ practice in Portsmouth where she learned about small business methods of accounting – receipts on a spike, a brown paper bag or a red cash book! On return to the UK from Hong Kong (husband’s navy posting too good to miss) she re-joined Grant Thornton in Plymouth as manager of the small accounts section until moving back to Surrey to take a commercial post with Fortes. Missing the personal contact with clients and the job satisfaction that helping individuals had offered it was not long before she once again transferred to general practice working as a subcontractor for local firms. For the last 20 years she ran the general practice (not just entertainment industry!) of a music-specialist accounting practice. In March 2012 the time came to break out and start a new chapter and so Re-Counting was born …
